Assistant Executive Director

Job Description

The assistant director will support the center director in managing all daily operations and ensuring the facility provides a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for all children. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and organizational skills, previous supervisory experience, and a deep commitment to the well-being of children.

Duties, Responsibilities and Related Tasks:



Support the director in overseeing all aspects of the center's daily operations. Maintain accurate records related to enrollment, attendance, billing, and waitlists. Manage purchasing for center supplies, snacks, and program materials. Assist with financial management, including budget planning and payroll tasks. Answer phones, provide customer service, and conduct tours for prospective families. Ensure the facility is maintained as a safe, clean, and healthy environment. Confirm compliance with all province and local licensing regulations and health and safety protocols. Assist in conducting safety drills and other emergency training for staff and children. Oversee the maintenance of all required paperwork for children, staff, and licensing. Communicate with parents and guardians and build positive relationships with families. Help organize parent-teacher events and represent the center in the community.

Required Skills and Qualifications



Essential qualifications often include ECE administrative training in a related field or equivalent experience, along with proven supervisory skills, ideally in a childcare setting. Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills are also necessary. The role requires CPR/First Aid certification, the ability to cover for the director, and a clear criminal record check.

Leadership and Communication:

Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication skills to effectively guide and support staff.

Technical support:

Assist the Executive Director and staff with any technical or computer related issues.

Organizational Skills:

The ability to manage multiple tasks, oversee schedules, and maintain accurate records.

Interpersonal Skills:

The ability to relate well to both children and adults, creating a positive and nurturing environment.

Experience:

Demonstrable experience in child care or a related management role.

Effort and working conditions:


Work is performed primarily in a Child Care Centre. Ability to work shifts that fall between the hours of 7:00 and 6:00 p.m. is essential. Position requires lifting of children, materials and supplies on a regular basis. Early childhood educators will work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $53,081.46-$69,081.46 per year
