Friends in Need Food Bank Society is a volunteer-based organization working to ensure no one in our community goes hungry. We partner with donors, volunteers, agencies, and local businesses to provide dignified, client-centred food access and related supports.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an Assistant Executive Director who will support our current Executive Director and be developed for succession into the Executive Director role. This is a hands-on leadership position focused on operations, people, community, and sustainability.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Support strategic planning, program development, and impact measurement.
Oversee day-to-day operations across sites (scheduling, logistics, inventory/warehouse coordination, client service).
Assist with staff and volunteer leadership: hiring, onboarding, coaching, and recognition.
Track budgets and financial performance; support bookkeeping controls and monthly reporting.
Lead and support fund development: grant writing, donor stewardship, events, and partnerships.
Represent the organization at community events, with media, and in stakeholder meetings.
Coordinate special projects to improve quality, efficiency, and client experience.
WHAT YOU BRING
Progressive leadership experience in nonprofit or mission-driven settings.
Understanding of volunteer-driven operations and community-based service delivery.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
Experience with grants/fundraising and donor relations.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities while leading diverse teams with empathy.
Bonus Skills: familiarity with QuickBooks, Microsoft 365, donor management tools, and social media communications.

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
