Are you passionate about early childhood education and leadership? We're looking for a dedicated and experienced Daycare Director to lead our team in providing exceptional care and education for young children. The position will report to the Senior Director.
Position Overview:
A typical day for our daycare director is a dynamic blend of administrative, leadership, and hands-on responsibilities. This is NOT an office desk position. The director will frequently visit the different rooms to know/ensure the activities of the rooms, cleanliness, child/staff ratio, etc. This means that the day for a director will keep her on her toes. Here's an outline of what their day might look like:
To ensure the facility is safe, clean, and ready for the day. Greet staff, parents, and children as they arrive.
Visit classrooms to support staff by observing their routines, and to ensure they have materials they need, and the curriculum/ratio is being followed.
Administration office duties include accurate updated children/staff files/digital app records, and fee payments/reminders and follow-ups. Most of the fee related job is being done by our finance.
Children's observation, staff/families' interaction
Orientation, tour, and registration of the new families, maintaining/following up the waiting list and promoting on-going enrollment.
In emergency situation, to be a part of the ratio or covering breaks
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement high-quality educational programs that promote children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Maintain inventory of class supplies & furnishings, preparation of weekly grocery list with the assistance of kitchen staff
Collaborate with parents and guardians to ensure open communication and address their needs and concerns.
Ensure compliance with Alberta licensing regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
Any other daycare related jobs/duties assigned by the management.
Flexible with shifts as required.
Qualifications:
Qualifications must be equivalent to Alberta Childcare Certifications like Level-3
Proven experience in a leadership role within a daycare or early childhood education setting.
Familiar with daycare digital applications like HiMama
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to listen and respond appropriately and professionally to families, children, and staff. Able to prepare a monthly newsletter, review the daily reports to the parents via digital app, conducting staff meetings.
Infant/Child C.P.R. and First Aid updated yearly, Clear criminal record check.
Able to maintain the smooth daily operation of the daycare site and function as part of a cohesive team.
Ability to safeguard confidential information.
