Job summary



To assist in the supervision, crisis line response, interventions, emotional support, suicide risk assessment, resource availability and activities associated with the crisis line while supporting crisis line responders.

Duties and Responsibilities



Comply with all CMHA-CC policies and procedures

Maintain accurate records of tasks performed and hours worked to complete bi-weekly timesheets and monthly task reports

Maintain all records in a secure, confidential manner for accurate reporting

Regular communications with crisis line coordinators and volunteers as required

Assist in the supervision of crisis line responders while adhering to CMHA, PHSA, BCCLN and ICLN Policies and Procedures

Participate in required monthly meetings

Required to cover the shift as a paid crisis line responder when there is an absence in the shift corresponding with your supervision schedule.

Qualifications



Education:



Completion of crisis line responder training

Minimum Grade 12

Experience:



One-year (approximately 200 hours based on the shifts) as a Crisis Line Responder or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience and other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work

Experience in the following areas is an asset:



Supporting those living with mental health concerns

Supervising volunteers

Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills

Skills & Abilities:



Strong supervisory skills

Be empathetic, flexible, and adaptable to varying situations

Knowledge of resources and where to access them in a crisis

Function calmly in a crisis

Establish and maintain rapport with individuals

Organize and prioritize

Analyze and resolve problems

Maintain strong ethical boundaries

Maintain personal self-care

Excellent communication skills, oral and written with the ability to engage any individual regardless of background

Intermediate computer skills

Ability to work independently as well as on a team

Conditions of Employment



Must be 19 years of age or older

Agreement to work a flexible shift

Casual employees must provide their own computer when working remotely

Obtain and maintain a qualifying Criminal Records Check

Possible remote supervision from a personal off-site location that is private, and confidential that offers a reliable internet connection and phone access to respond directly with staff/responders

Must sign the Conflict of Interest and Code of Conduct Polices and the Oath of Confidentiality

Pay: $25.55-$29.26 per hour

Secondary School (preferred)
