Assistant Bookkeeper



Location:

Victoria, BC (James Bay area)

Job type:

Permanent, Part-time to Full-time (30-35 hours/week)

Schedule:

7-hour shifts, 5 days per week -- flexible weekdays or weekends

About the Role



We're looking for a

detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive bookkeeper

to join a small, growing bookkeeping practice based in James Bay.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, values accuracy, and takes pride in supporting local small businesses. You'll work closely with the owner to help maintain accurate books for a variety of clients in different industries.

A minimum of 30 hours per week is required.

What You'll Do



Record and reconcile transactions in

QuickBooks Online (QBO)

. Manage

accounts payable

and

accounts receivable

. Perform

bank and credit card reconciliations

. Prepare and assist with

payroll processing

. Maintain organized and accurate financial records. Prepare financial reports and working papers as needed. Communicate with clients and team members to gather missing information. Use tools such as

Excel, Adobe PDF, Dext

, and other cloud-based software.

What We're Looking For



Minimum 2 years of

bookkeeping or accounting experience

(public practice experience an asset). Proficiency in

QuickBooks Online (QBO)

is required. Strong understanding of reconciliation, payroll, A/P, and A/R. Excellent

attention to detail

time management

. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Professional and friendly communication skills. Comfortable using PC-based software and online tools.
