We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Bookkeeper to join our construction company. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall accounting function of the organization. This position requires proficiency in various accounting software as well as excel, and a solid understanding of bookkeeping principles. Daily interactions with management, suppliers and staff should be expected.
Duties
Assist with daily bookkeeping tasks, including maintaining accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
Process payroll and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero for financial record keeping.
Conduct account analysis and support budgeting efforts as needed.
Prepare bank reconciliations to verify cash balances.
Collaborate with the accounting team to support month-end closing processes.
Maintain organized financial records and documentation for audits.
Assist with various adhoc company delegations.
Create and maintain cost tracking spreadsheets.
Meet weekly with management to discuss financial items
Support management in various administrative tasks
Communicate with suppliers and clients
Requirements
Proficiency in accounting software, including QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliation.
Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial analysis.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and management.
