Job Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized

Assistant Bookkeeper

to support our accounting team. The ideal candidate will assist with maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in various accounting software and gain experience across different sectors, including corporate, non-profit, and governmental accounting. The Assistant Bookkeeper will play a vital part in maintaining the integrity of our financial data and supporting the preparation of financial reports.

Duties



Assist with general ledger accounting and account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data. Process journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms. Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations regularly to verify account balances. Support payroll processing and tax-related tasks in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards. Maintain detailed records of financial transactions including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger entries. Assist in preparing financial reports, including budgeting analysis and account analysis for management review. Ensure adherence to accounting principles such as GAAP and technical accounting standards. Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for account activities. Conduct data entry tasks requiring high accuracy, including 10-key typing and detailed account analysis. Collaborate with the team on special projects related to financial concepts, governmental accounting, or nonprofit accounting as needed.

Experience



Proven experience with bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably within public accounting or corporate environments. Familiarity with multiple accounting software packages such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, or similar tools. Knowledge of GAAP standards and experience with general ledger reconciliation and bank reconciliation processes. Understanding of financial concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax procedures. Experience in governmental or nonprofit accounting is a plus but not required. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment. Basic proficiency in budgeting and financial report writing is desirable.
