Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Asset Information and Tools, this role is a key position within the Asset Information and Tools team as ATCO continues to improve asset information systems, processes, and supporting tools within our Electricity business. The Engineer will be responsible to assist with developing strategies for long term asset data stewardship and curation. This includes a holistic approach to managing data related to assets over their entire lifecycle- creation through to and including removal. An important part of the role is to aid the organization in accessing and using data throughout operations and maintenance to support decision-making processes. This position is part of a very capable team of professionals all working towards developing and implementing this vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Continually innovate and mature data governance, data quality, data access, and decision-making tools and processes
  • Maintaining business documentation that outlines data management standards, processes, and procedures
  • Ensure the team continues to provide improved reporting, analytics, and auditing services for its internal customers using structured query language and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Participate in and lead Asset Management improvement and upgrade projects (e.g., Work and Asset Management - Electric)
  • Continue to support stakeholders and Asset Management team in driving forward advanced maintenance, asset performance management, and decision-making processes utilizing asset data. Continue to lead or support stakeholder teams through the process of realizing value
  • Support business groups with tracking and entering asset information into the Enterprise Asset Management systems, curating and maintaining this data, and accessing this data to make informed decisions
  • Utilize and configure data loads for internal customers and supporting team execution
  • In consultation with stakeholders, drive forward improved online monitoring utilizing the Enterprise Historian, IoT, or other systems for improved asset management and operational situational awareness
  • Provide leadership for improvements to mobile tools that improve field worker user experience, health & safety, and participation in asset management (e.g., Oracle Field Services)
  • Provide support for regulatory application processes (GTA & PBR), including developing business cases, responding to information requests, and providing support for omissions & updates filings including witness preparation
  • Support innovation proposals & project execution from an Asset Management perspective
  • Implementing and testing configuration changes in the Maximo asset management system
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering with 2-5 years of utility or data management experience
  • Professional Engineer designation is required
  • Knowledge of asset information management and business planning, Transmission & Distribution (T&D) utility experience is an asset
  • Understanding of a regulated utility business environment
  • Good knowledge of ATCO's current Asset Management technologies including Maximo, ESRI, PI Historian, etc. or similar applications (SAP)
  • Understanding of a programming language (SQL, Python, VBA, etc.) and practices is an asset
  • Excellent report writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Facilitation skills to gather subject matter expertise and work toward consensus in the development of strategy framework and/or scope of work
  • Demonstrated experience in aligning utility decision making processes against ISO 55000
