Lethbridge is located just two hours south of Calgary and close to the Rocky Mountains and U.S. border. It is a family-oriented and culturally vibrant community with many amenities of a larger city. The Role

As a key member of the Division\xe2\x80\x99s senior leadership team, the Associate Superintendent reports to the Superintendent of Schools. The Associate Superintendent will be a proven educational leader with demonstrated success in educational leadership, inspiring staff growth, implementing change, and developing a strong team. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Associate Superintendent participates in decision-making and policymaking at the highest level and provides advice to the Board of Trustees in a variety of areas with specific focus on human resource activities and outcomes that fall within governance. The successful candidate will lead the Human Resources team and will maintain the utmost confidentiality, lead with moral imperative, develop strong working relationships and solve complex problems.

The Associate Superintendent leads and manages all aspects of the Human Resources department including, but not limited to:

  • Employee recruitment, selection, onboarding, allocation, and retention;
  • Development and implementation of staff development programs;
  • Staff growth, supervision, and evaluation;
  • Employee wellness;
  • Communications;
  • Negotiations;
  • Resolution of legal and employment issues;
  • Planning as a member of the senior administrative team, including input on matters related to learning and student supports;
  • Policy associated with employees.
Requirements

We are seeking an experienced educational leader with a record of successful administrative experience at the school or division level who has successfully guided change throughout their career. The successful candidate will have:
  • Alberta teacher certification (or eligibility for Alberta teacher certification), Alberta Leadership Quality Standard certification (or eligibility for Leadership Quality standard certification) and a Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree;
  • A leadership history that actively demonstrates genuine care for students, staff and members of the school community;
  • A vision for building an exemplary staff committed to students and each other;
  • Consistently demonstrated the ability to creatively solve problems, while overseeing a broad portfolio of services and supports;
  • The knowledge and skills necessary for fulfilling the statutory duties laid out in relevant legislation and the Education Act pertaining to employees;
  • Demonstrated strong advocacy for meeting the needs of students and staff;
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills;
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate information in a timely and transparent manner;
  • A reputation of possessing strong ethics and acting with integrity to nurture trusting relationships;
  • Exemplary skills in analytical reasoning, problem solving, and crisis management;
  • A high level of proficiency, and aptitude for computer programs and systems integration;
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills necessary for responding to complex responsibilities in a division office setting;
  • A history of leadership characterized by collaboration and capacity building.
  • Experience as a school Principal will be considered an asset;
  • Experience in a Division administrative role will be considered an asset;
  • Relevant Human Resources experience will be considered an asset;
  • Relevant Human Resources certification, training or degree will be considered an asset.
Conditions of Employment:

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School Division who are offered employment must provide:
  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification and documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee\xe2\x80\x99s legal name.
  • Travel is required within the city, therefore a valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License is required.
