Arts & Culture Assistant

(Auxiliary)

The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking an Arts & Culture Assistant to help with the many details associated with the various events and festivals we host for our residents during the spring and summer months. It is anticipated that regular work will be scheduled throughout the summer and will require that candidates have a flexible schedule.

Incumbents will assist with a wide variety of arts and culture services, programs, special events and activities. Work may involve development of activity schedules, requisitioning supplies and equipment, assisting with set up of event sites and troubleshooting issues as they emerge. Candidate will liaise and work with a variety of internal and external contacts, the general public, artists, volunteers, and community groups. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships is an important skillset as is the ability to provide assistance and direction to the various partners.

The work will require some independent judgement and action and will require someone with knowledge of the practices and procedures related to organizing and implementing special events.

Candidates should have completed a post-secondary diploma in arts or cultural services, recreation or related discipline plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience. St. Johns First Aid or equivalent desirable but not required.

Hours: Auxiliary as scheduled. Expecting 12 to 16 hours per week through the summer

Salary Rate: Pay Grade 15 - $26.22 per hour plus 10% in lieu
