Job Description


Reporting to the Institutional lead, Artificial Intelligence (AI), the AI Analyst builds capacity for Dalhousie University to research applications of AI relevant to its academic, research and administrative mission. The role is tasked to continuously scan the environment, assess technology and its applications, curate information and communicate to relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with stakeholders identified by the Institutional Lead (AI) to develop a representative set of generative AI use cases.
  • Develop and regularly execute a test suite of test cases derived from use cases from a wide range of assignment types with input from faculty.
  • Assess AI-based AI detection application for accuracy and legality under Canadian
jurisdiction. Install, configure and evaluate the capabilities of emerging AI tools as identified by the continuous environmental scan. * Build and maintain a comprehensive resource for Dalhousie community members. Prepare briefing material to support decision-making by Dalhousie leaders.
  • Prepare and deliver training material related to emerging technologies.
  • Review material prepared in reaction to emerging technologies.
Note

The successful applicant may work in-person on campus, primarily remotely (with occasional presence in-person on-campus), or perform a hybrid of the two as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field plus experience performing research or working in a research environment (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Portfolio of effective prompts to refine AI-based applications to perform reliably specific tasks.
  • Informal training or credentials relevant to prompt engineering.
  • Installing and configuring software from technical documentation.
  • Teaching, teaching support, or pedagogical design.
  • Effective and demonstrable communication skills.
  • Energetic approach to problem solving as well as the ability to multitask, and make decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, research and planning skills are required. Tact, diplomacy, and attention to detail.
Assets
  • Background in Education, Ethics, language arts, Computer Science or business.
  • Broad experience with generative AI applications and tools.
  • Understanding of governance and processes in higher education
