Position Summary The Student at Law position will include tasks which include but are not limited to: legal research, drafting correspondence and pleadings, client management, and attending Court. Expected start date: April 12, 2023 Responsibilities \xc2\xb7 Legal Research \xe2\x80\x93 Conducts extensive legal research and analysis on a variety of matters with the primary focus being Family Law, Civil Law, and Child Protection Law. Provides analysis based on their findings. \xc2\xb7 Scheduling meetings \xe2\x80\x93 Calls clients to schedule meetings to discuss details of their cases. Gather information on the lawyer\xe2\x80\x99s behalf and provide updates on the matter. \xc2\xb7 Drafting \xe2\x80\x93 drafts correspondence, court documents including pleadings, motion materials, and other legal documents. \xc2\xb7 Other duties may be assigned as required. Position Qualifications Education: Please submit law school transcript, along with cover letter and resume. Experience: Recent and relevant experience in family law, civil law, and child protection law will be considered an asset but not required. Personal Suitability: The Student-at-Law position requires a candidate with excellent communication skills and a high degree of professionalism. Language: Proficiency in English both in oral and written communications is required. Proficiency in other languages will be considered an asset. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \xc2\xb7 Strong analytical skills to assess the applicability of legal principles and relevance of evidence. \xc2\xb7 Strong interpersonal skills. \xc2\xb7 Excellent organizational, administrative and time management skills. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment. \xc2\xb7 Excellent written communication skills including the ability to prepare a variety of materials including, letters and memos of law. \xc2\xb7 Strong research skills. \xc2\xb7 Proficient in the use of Internet, word processing and email applications. Work Environment Ruberto Sheikh LLP offers a high-paced, demanding, energetic and challenging workplace with opportunities to work on interesting cases. Hours of Work: The Student-at-Law will be required to work in-person at our office. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Working remotely is an option, subject to the circumstances. The Student-at-Law will work under the direction of the Partners and Associate Lawyers who will provide advice, guidance and support to the Student.
