1.0 FTE Commensurate with placement on the SMSTemporary (Aug 30 - Dec 16, 2022 ) Salary Grid, based on years of teaching experience & education (TQS Category).This is a bargaining unit position in the Professional Employees Association.Summary St Margaret's School is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, creative and team-oriented teacher to join our vibrant school community. As an inspiring educator, this teacher will have a passion for and skills in fine arts, strong instructional skills and a commitment to improving the school through designing and implementing a creative and thriving arts program that connects teaching and learning to the overall mission and vision of the school. Key to this role is a motivation to work in an environment that develops competent, confident and courageous girls.The Arts teacher plays a significant role in developing fine arts program, including teaching art competencies, promoting art in the community, creating art exhibits throughout the school, and collaborating with colleagues to integrate art into all disciplines. This skilled teacher needs to have the skills and desire to teach student from grades 4 - 12.Job Duties include

• Implementing and delivering the grade 4 - 12 art curriculum.
• Attending regular monthly staff meetings and school-required events.
• Collaborating with colleagues to share ideas and plan cross-grade/curricular learning engagements.
• Preparing and executing student assessment including formal written reports, parent teacher interviews and three-way conferences.
• Communicating regularly both formally and informally with parents.
• Participating in school functions.
• Attending meetings with parents and colleagues to support the needs of the students.

Requirements and Qualifications include

• Current and Valid teacher certification through the Teacher Regulation Branch in Elementary Education.

• Undergraduate degree with a focus on teaching Fine Arts.

• Recent teaching experience.
• Experience teaching using a variety of strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
• An awareness and understanding of the B.C. Fine Arts curriculum.
• Proficient in current pedagogical practices including differentiated instruction and inquiry- based and experiential learning
• Experience preparing art exhibits.
• Awareness and understanding of the social/emotional needs of girls.
• Superior communication, organizational and interpersonal skills in working with colleagues and parents.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Assets

• Experience working in an all-girls environment.
• Experience working in an independent school.
• Masters in Education or related field.
