Do you appreciate art, like a variety of responsibilities, and enjoy working with people? We are recruiting for an Art Gallery Assistant at Teichert Gallery for the summer.

This is a summer position made possible through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period, and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been granted.

Role:

The Art Gallery Assistant ensures that clients are the main priority and treats them as important guests, ensuring that their interactions with us are positive experiences; provides artists with accurate information and deals with them respectfully; assists in maintaining a gallery that looks professional and welcoming; provides administrative support to the Executive Director and Principal Gallery Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service, art installation, Point of Sale database maintenance, inventory management.

Other requirements:

Ability to lift 20 pounds and use a ladder.

Assets:

Relevant experience in customer service, sales, or marketing experience. Knowledge of art.

Teichert Gallery is Atlantic Canada's largest nonprofit art sales and rental gallery that supports more than 140 local artists. With a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, Teichert offers over 1,000 works for sale or rent annually in the gallery and online. For over 40 years, the gallery has donated profits to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia to buy art for the permanent collection.
