We are seeking an experienced Art Facilitator to teach employability skills through the medium of art. Our newest youth employment service will engage at-risk young people through a multi-dimensional program that includes art-based projects. This innovative service will help youth build work related skills by creating community based art projects that can showcase competencies and inspire youth to pursue career goals. What will you do? As an Art Facilitator you will engage a group of youth to conceptualize, develop, create, and exhibit art projects. This will include teaching foundational skills and helping youth build confidence as they progress through various activities. Although art is the basis of your programming, your goal is to help youth develop employability skills such as teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, communication, leadership, time management, commitment, and follow-through. You will clearly link skills being developed with project activities. As a highly collaborative individual with exceptional communication skills, you will create partnerships and build strong relationships with other arts serving organizations, youth organizations, community organizations, employers, and most of, youth. You will recognize that the value of lived experience and will maximize youth engagement and feedback to ensure relevant and highly effective service delivery. As a compassionate problem solver, you will recognize the significance of barriers our youth will face and will employ positive and trauma informed approaches to create an inclusive, supportive, and positive experience for all. This project is highly flexible and will be delivered at our location, in the community and, in some cases, virtually. You will be responsive to individual situations and will employ a flexible working model that will include some weekend and evening programming. What does it take to do this job?
  • Degree or certificate in related field from a recognized post-secondary institution such as, Arts, Adult Education, Counselling/Psychology, Social or Human Services
  • 1+ year of experience in a similar role. Experience with at-risk youth a strong asset.
  • Some post-secondary education and/or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered
  • Experience facilitating workshops
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Photoshop)
  • Strong oral communication skills to be able to clearly relay instructions
  • Able to consistently perform in a positive, diplomatic and collaborative manner
  • Exposure and/or direct experience with health and safety and risk management practices as it relates to activities
  • Previous experience working in the field of mental health considered an asset

  • All employees must pass a Vulnerable Sector background check
  • All employees must be flexible to work from the office as well as from home and in the community, based on program requirements
  • Some weekend and evening work is required for this role
