JOB SUMMARY

The Area Manager is responsible for the supervising and handling of all sales, warehousing, and distribution functions at the branch, in coordination with the Head Office. This includes accountability for inbound and outbound freight, as well as adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures. The Area Manager will accomplish effective logistical oversight through strong leadership and decision-making skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

\xc2\xb7 Plan, and direct the daily operations of the branch including manage staff and assign duties

\xc2\xb7 Oversee employee schedules to maximize workload distribution and ensure all shifts covered

\xc2\xb7 Study trends to determine Client demand, potential increase in volumes

\xc2\xb7 Develop team to fulfill Client requirements and respond to client concerns / complaints

\xc2\xb7 Recruit and train staff with assistance from Human Resources & Safety Dept.

\xc2\xb7 Orientate each new hire on the basics of the facility and explain the training schedule

\xc2\xb7 Train employees on the importance of safe work practices including proper use of equipment, cleaning guidelines and WHMIS procedures

\xc2\xb7 Create and maintain employee schedules and review and approve timecards

\xc2\xb7 Submit bi-weekly payroll info (timecards, payroll changes, new hires, and terminations) to Human Resources/Director if approvals are required.

\xc2\xb7 Monitor the performance of staff, complete employee performance reviews for branch

\xc2\xb7 Enforce progressive discipline policy with counselling sessions and written warnings as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Conduct suspension and termination meetings, in conjunction with Management.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain various reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis

\xc2\xb7 Keep lines of communication opened between Head Office and branch

\xc2\xb7 Review and maintain inventory procedures and proper stocking. Identify discrepancies between inventory records and take action.

\xc2\xb7 Respond to maintenance needs and perform fuel audits

\xc2\xb7 Provide feedback regarding customer opinions, usage trends, and other pertinent information.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain the building, equipment, and property of the camp.

\xc2\xb7 Dispatch fuel trucks while dispatch is off shift

\xc2\xb7 Enforce all company policies and procedures and follow all regulatory requirements from all governing legislation.

\xc2\xb7 Comply with all HSE policies, practices, and procedures.

\xc2\xb7 Lead and/or attend weekly safety meetings

\xc2\xb7 Create incident reports in the event of an accident or near miss

\xc2\xb7 Develop and/or enforce corporate policies regarding security and safety to maintain a safe working environment.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain appropriate and complete documentation regarding regulated products and/or hazardous materials.

\xc2\xb7 Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties

\xc2\xb7 Maintain, review, and adjust fuel levels inventories in area to be within min max criteria.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure all legislated permits are acquired and kept in good standing

\xc2\xb7 Participate in budget planning for volume, revenue, truck utilization and forecasting

\xc2\xb7 Manage/Facilitate lease operator relationships

\xc2\xb7 Report/Assist in troubleshooting equipment assigned to branch and area including cardlocks and product delivery equipment

\xc2\xb7 Perform internal and external sales of AFD services

\xc2\xb7 Provide weekly reports on sales / customer trends / complaints

\xc2\xb7 Conduct inspections of Cardlock / Tank Farm and schedule maintenance/repairs as required

\xc2\xb7 Assist with Fuel / Lubricant deliveries when required

\xc2\xb7 Assist with daily operations / coverage when required

\xc2\xb7 Other related duties as required or assigned.

OTHER KEY SKILLS (or product knowledge)

\xc2\xb7 Experience working with major fuel providers considered an asset

\xc2\xb7 Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail required

\xc2\xb7 Management and / or supervisory experience

\xc2\xb7 Professional written and verbal communication skills

EXPEREINCE

5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Senior Management role

EDUCATION

Post-Secondary Degree in Business Management preferred

High School Diploma required
