Position Summary
Prototype Design Lab (PD Lab) is seeking an experienced
Architectural or Interior Designer
with strong construction drawings expertise, including millwork fabrication details, to join our team. This is a role for a highly motivated, hands-on designer with
a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in an Interior Design or Architectural office in Canada or the United States
(10+ years preferred).
The ideal candidate will be capable of taking a project from concept through to detailed design and full construction/fabrication drawing packages. Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are
essential
for workflow, coordination, and collaboration within our team.
Current projects include restaurant interiors, shopping mall interiors, and new single-family dwellings.

Key Responsibilities
Develop conceptual Interior designs and translate them into coordinated technical solutions.
Participate in design development at multiple scales, from full interior environments to Millwork furniture & art of the space
Create detailed Interior design construction drawings with complete details required for accurate production for the local GC to execute on-site
Create detailed millwork drawings sufficient for shop fabrication
, including specifications, materials, joinery details, and assembly instructions.
Ability to coordinate design intent with contractors and fabrication teams (wood and metal shop) or other trades required for a project.
Collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and fabrication partners.
Requirements
Minimum 7 years of relevant Interior Design or Architectural experience in Canada or the United States (10+ years strongly preferred).
Exceptional English communication skills
(written and verbal) required for seamless workflow; this is a mandatory criterion.
Proven experience producing Construction drawings,
millwork/furniture design, and shop fabrication drawings

Self-motivated, creative thinkers able to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Strong sketching ability (hand or digital).
