What Your Day Will Look Like
As an Archaeological Technician, you will support field work under the supervision of experienced archaeologists and project managers. You will assist with field preparation, surveying, excavation, data collection, and analysis while helping to document archaeological features and artifacts. Your role also includes cleaning, cataloging, and organizing recovered materials, preparing samples for analysis, and maintaining accurate, well-organized records of field and lab findings. You'll ensure all documentation is properly stored and may assist in writing reports and site forms as needed. This position provides an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to develop foundational skills in archaeological methods, tools, and compliance standards while gaining hands-on experience in cultural resource management.
What You'll be Responsible for
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in shovel testing, excavation and survey activities for archaeological projects.
Help document and record archaeological features and artifacts in the field using appropriate data collection methods, with the ability to progress these tasks independently with the support of a crew lead.
Help with site mapping and surveys.
Assist in cleaning, cataloging and organizing artifacts recovered during excavations
Write and/or assist with writing reports and site forms as needed.
Fostering positive relationships with local communities, Indigenous groups, governmental agencies and other partners.
Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor's corporate culture.
What Will Help You Succeed:
Our ideal candidate is pursuing or has completed an undergraduate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field, with completion of a recognized field school program considered an asset. You bring a strong interest in archaeological fieldwork and cultural heritage, and while previous field or lab experience is preferred, it is not required. You are an effective communicator with strong organizational skills and attention to detail, able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. You are comfortable working outdoors in physically demanding conditions, including long days of 8-12 hours, lifting equipment up to 40 lbs, and navigating challenging terrain. Above all, you are eager to learn, contribute to meaningful archaeological projects, and build a foundation for a career in cultural resource management.

Wage Range:
This is an Hourly position with atarget hiring range of $26.75 to $32.91 per hour. Final placement within this range will typically be between the minimum and midpoint and is determined based on each candidate's unique combination of skills, knowledge, experience, and abilities. We also consider factors such as market conditions and internal equity to support fair and transparent compensation practices.
