Working for
the VFO Building Operations
Building service workers, specialists, technologists, peace officers and tradespeople help keep all five of our campuses maintained and operating safely and efficiently. Utilities & Operations supports our community through operating, maintaining and renewing our infrastructure and providing a number of safety and security services.
Position Summary
This role provides infrastructure and foundational support for all Operational Technology (i.e. Building Systems such as Safety/Security and Automation/Controls), including the network infrastructure that supports those systems.
Duties
Delegates and prioritizes work and assignments to team members.
Researches new technologies and makes recommendations for purchases to enhance the efficiency of operations and quality of service.
Works with other teams and stakeholders to identify requirements and to design architectures that meet their technological and/or business needs.
Analysis of system usage and user activity statistics to forecast for future growth and to enhance services.
Involved in the planning of the installation, upgrading and maintenance of operational technology systems such as Building Safety and Security and Building Management.
Minimum Qualifications
Degree or equivalent Diploma in Computer Systems, Networking, Information Systems Technology, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of work-related experience in a large/complex enterprise IT environment, including leading a small team of IT analysts or specialists.
Well-developed planning, analytical and organizational skills, with strong problem-solving capabilities and a good understanding of business processes.
Advanced Windows System (Server) and Active Directory administration skills.
Working knowledge of networking, virtualization technology and systems security.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the practice of DevOps as it relates to Operational Technology Building Systems Technologies (Automation, Controls, and Security) would be considered an asset.
Familiarity with Network Automation (Scripting, Basic understanding of coding) would be considered an asset.
Understanding of ITIL and ITSM concepts for service delivery. ITIL 4 Managing Professional Certification would be considered an asset.
Intermediate certification in the field of cybersecurity would be considered an asset.
