We're growing our team and are looking for a technically skilled

Applications Engineer

to join our sales and customer success group. This position bridges engineering expertise and customer engagement -- helping clients choose the right manufacturing process, optimize their CAD designs, and ensure a seamless experience from quote to delivery.

Role Overview



The

Applications Engineer

supports our Additive Manufacturing and CNC sales team by providing technical expertise, application consulting, and customer-facing support. You'll be the technical voice during pre-sales discussions, guiding customers to the best solutions for their needs, while also helping improve internal processes, training materials, and technical content.

This is a hands-on role at the intersection of engineering, customer service, and business development -- ideal for a mechanical engineer who enjoys both design and communication.

Key Responsibilities



Support the

3D Printing / Additive Manufacturing sales team

with technical knowledge, process recommendations, and application consulting. Review customer CAD files for manufacturability and assist in optimizing designs for 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting. Conduct

product demonstrations, training sessions, and plant tours

as part of the pre-sales process. Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Customer Success) to ensure smooth project handoffs and outstanding customer outcomes. Provide

post-sale support

to resolve quality, process, and engineering issues. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of additive manufacturing technologies, materials, and industry trends. Develop and maintain

training materials

for new hires, service updates, and product launches. Create

technical content

(articles, videos, presentations) that highlights Forge Labs' capabilities and thought leadership. Participate in trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events to represent Forge Labs as a technical expert.

Qualifications



Required:



Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience. Strong understanding of

additive manufacturing (3D printing)

processes and materials Proficiency in

SOLIDWORKS

, Fusion 360, or equivalent 3D CAD tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Confident presenting to groups, both in-person and virtually. Independent, proactive, and organized -- able to manage multiple customer interactions at once.

Preferred:



Hands on experience with industrial 3D printing equipment like SLS, MJF, DMLS technologies Experience with

CNC machining or laser cutting

processes. Prior experience in

technical sales, applications engineering, or manufacturing support

. Understanding of

Design for Manufacturability (DFM)

principles. Familiarity with

additive manufacturing software

(e.g., Materialise Magics, Netfabb, GrabCAD Print).
