Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working in one of our site offices across Canada with a mixture of on and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement is subject to change, based on operational needs.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Analyst - SAP Technical Systems III to join our dynamic IT External Customer Experience team.

The IT External Customer Experience team is responsible for day to day software application support and planning. In this role, you will be responsible for your respective SAP functional area including Materials Management, Plant Maintenance, Asset Management, SAP procurement and Ariba processes, ensuring appropriate levels of integration and information sharing between the team members in IT. You will also be responsible for supporting the use of SAP and its various platforms at Canadian Blood Services. This includes supporting SAP end users, using SAP information to conduct analysis, resolving end user issues, modifying existing SAP functionality and interfaces, and adding new capabilities.

Formula for success

  • Harnessing your technical expertise, you will leverage SAP ABAP programming and bbject-oriented design in SAP Sales & Distribution and other SAP modules as identified.
  • Drawing on your experience in software development and IT systems, you will build SAP services to connect to other CBS systems.
  • Leveraging your skills and experience in technology assessment and analysis, you will help architect and design solutions that rely on and integrate to SAP.
  • Capitalizing on your excellent communication and collaboration skills, you will engage in insightful discussions with internal business partners and IT service groups to troubleshoot and solve issues as they arise.
  • Employing agile software development methodologies, you will be a part of the technical leadership team to drive new system development initiatives and enhance existing systems.
  • Drawing on your mentorship abilities, you will help technical resources both inside and outside the realm of SAP and guide development activities as appropriate.
  • Understanding that documentation is key to knowledge transfer and system support, you will ensure that technical documentation is available, and knowledge is shared with appropriate resources.
Desired education and skills
  • Successful completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent e.g. diploma and/or training in database management systems, operating systems, and/or networks.
  • 8-15 years of experience in agile development and designing business applications in supply chain, pharmaceutical, biologics, or similar industries, with expertise in SAP ECC and/or SAP Hana.
  • Minimum 2 years experience connecting non-SAP systems with SAP.
  • You will be highly skilled in object-oriented design, SAP ABAP programming and understanding SAP core modules and associated data structures. Specific knowledge of SAP Sales & Distribution modules is an asset.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and business partners to develop robust technical solutions that drive business outcomes and deliver exemplary user experiences.

What you can expect
  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
  • If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be expected to travel to our office location in Ottawa - 2540 Lancaster Rd, quarterly for in-person team meetings when required.
