Opportunity
AIMCo's Real Estate team provides exposure to domestic and international real estate through direct holdings diversified across property types and geography. Analysts on the Real Estate team share similar characteristics. You are self-starting, intellectually disciplined and results focused. Possessing exceptional analytical abilities, you also demonstrate superior communication and time management skills. As relationship builders, you interact with ease amongst diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders. As the successful Analyst, you will learn about the functions of a high performing real estate investment team. Playing an important role, you will leverage your strong technical skills and support the real estate analytical team in their investment analytics and financial analysis. You will assist in updates to the real estate investment system, YARDI. You will also be coached and developed to gain a working knowledge of foreign and Canadian real estate investment portfolios
Responsibilities

  • Monitoring the performance of existing investments and developing models and tools for conducting such analyses
  • Contributing to the maintenance and accuracy of internal real estate management systems (YARDI)
  • Drafting and creating real estate investment portfolio presentations
  • Assisting with the financial analysis and other due diligence with respect to acquisitions and dispositions

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Computer Science or another related field
  • 1+ years of work experience in investment banking, investment management, real estate, pension plans, etc. Internships and co-op programs will be considered experience.
  • Experience working in and/or knowledge of Real Estate would be considered an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of finance, accounting, business concepts and programming
  • Highly proficient with MS Applications including VBA, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Familiarity with Argus would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Real Estate would be considered an asset
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Thrives under pressure and enjoys contributing to team goals with ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

Success Measures
The successful candidate will contribute to this term position by providing time-sensitive real estate research and analysis to the Real Estate Team in Toronto.
