THE ROLE:
The Analyst, Capital Accounting position is generally responsible for supporting the activities of the Capital Projects team and directly supports the Capital Controller. Specifically, the role is directly responsible for validating the accuracy, completeness and compliance of the requests for capital expenditures that come from the hotels and Capital Project team. The analyst also ensures that the accounting entries are prepared accurately on a timely basis and the account reconciliations are performed regularly against budget and forecast.
ACTIVITIES:
Timely audit the capital approval requests within the Quick Base system to ensure that information is accurate, complete and in compliance with the hotels' approved capital budgets and InnVest's established policies and procedures
Perform the administrative functions that are related to business processes and procedures in Quick Base.
Audit of capital purchase orders and invoices within the Yooz system on a timely basis to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies (follow up with vendors, procurement, hotels as needed)
Validate the Accounting code of all capital invoices to allow for payment processing
Assist the Capital Controller in the completion of various tasks and contribute to the success of InnVest's capital plans.
Assist in the preparation of capital progress and project reporting as necessary
Handle day-to-day issues as they arise
Responsible for identifying and communicating capital, system and/or accounting issues as they arise to management
Perform responsibilities in compliance with internal control environment
On an ongoing basis, monitoring and reviewing processes and procedures and recommend changes as appropriate to improve internal controls and /or efficiencies
Willingness to work extended hours during reporting peak periods
COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:
Academic/Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting, Commerce or Business Administration
Working towards completion of a professional accounting designation preferred
Knowledge, Experience and Skills Requirements:
Accounting experience in Real Estate or Construction industry preferred
Strong attention to details and analytical skills
Strong time and self-management skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively liaise/coordinate with other departments
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Belief in continual process improvement, but you must be ready to jump in to handle urgent problems as they occur
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to analyze accounting records, adopt methods needed to solve accounting problems
Flexible team player who is willing to help whenever possible
Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft 365.
Experience with Accounting software is an asset
