Job Description

Created in 1994 and based in Montreal, the ICPC is an international forum for national governments, local authorities, public agencies, specialised institutions and non-government organisations to exchange experience, consider emerging knowledge and improve policies and programmes in crime prevention and community safety.

The ICPC brings together some 50 members, including non-governmental organisations, police, municipalities and governments from around the world. ICPC staff monitors and analyses trends, provides direct assistance to members, and contributes to public knowledge and understanding in the field. ICPC works in collaboration with the UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) and UN-Habitat including the Safer Cities Programme.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Under the supervision of the Research Team Supervisor, the Analyst and Project Officer will:

Be responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of various urban safety projects; Ensure the supervision of the project team; Take charge of the design and implementation of consultation and citizen participation projects related to urban safety, and the prevention of violence and crime; Contribute to the development of innovative practices in urban safety and multi-actor participation and co-construction processes; Participate proactively in the development of the organisation, through the development of new partnerships, the drafting of project proposals, through their presence on social media and during events related to their projects; Carry out other related tasks.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 4 years' experience in managing consultation and participation projects, and must have a background in urban studies. Experience in safety in transport and in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) would be an asset.

In addition, the candidate must be bilingual (French and English) and have excellent writing skills in both languages, mainly in French. Understanding of another language, notably Spanish, is an asset.

Ability to integrate into a small international NGO. Ability to respect tight deadlines. Good diplomatic skills. Good judgment and autonomy. Good customer and partner relations skills. Ability to analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative data. Capacity to network with ICPC members, partners both locally and internationally.

WORKING CONDITIONS



One-year contract, full-time (35 hours per week), with possibility of permanence. Work location: Montreal (hybrid working). The annual salary will depend on qualifications and experience (rate offered that is within the norms for non-profit organisations): starting rate $32.97/hour.
