The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander of Fleet, Supply and Weapon Services Bureau (FSWSB) is seeking a qualified individual to join our Garage team. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will coordinate the day-to-day administrative operations in an OPP vehicle garage by scheduling and prioritizing work, overseeing the work of mechanics, monitoring progress of work performance and vehicle builds.

About Us:

Bureau members work behind the scenes to provide planning, procurement, fleet management, vehicle services and Garage Operations to ensure the OPP is well equipped for daily operations. How do I qualify?

Mandatory

  • Must be able to pass an OPP background security investigation.
  • Job requires a valid Automobile Mechanic\'s Licence Class 310S or 310T.
  • Must possess a valid Class G Driver\'s Licence.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of automotive technology, techniques and specialized equipment.
  • Knowledge of technical manuals and maintenance policies and guidelines to oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair work and ensure adherence to established maintenance schedules.
  • Interpersonal skills to foster and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to develop documents and installation manuals to provide direction to technicians on vehicle equipping modifications and collaborate with garage, fleet and OPP/vendor personnel to ensure successful operation of the OPP garage.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills to identify source of issue and operative critical thinking skills to develop and implement an effective solution.
  • The ability to apply judgment & discretion to prioritize and make recommendations pertaining to garage mechanic assignments.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations that apply to the work; includes knowledge of safe working practices and potential health and safety contraventions in the workplace to ensure compliance when overseeing the work of others.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Paint, Excel, Outlook) to produce a variety of materials and documents.
  • Planning and organizational skills to schedule work of mechanics.
  • Knowledge of vehicles\' electrical system, wiring, component locations, and proper wiring techniques to develop schematics and to provide guidance to mechanics.
