with strong communication and customer service skills to join our team as an Agronomist, focusing on the roles of

Custom Applicator Coordinator and Research Assistant

.

This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on field work and technical tasks, can adapt quickly to dynamic on-farm environments, and wants to contribute meaningfully to the future of data-driven agriculture across PEI.

Key Responsibilities



Custom Fertilizer Application Coordinator



Schedule and oversee custom fertilizer applications across the Island. Ensure the spreader team is recruited, trained, equipped, and ready for spring operations. Perform spread-pattern calibrations to ensure accurate and uniform applications. Maintain accurate and organized records of applications, rates, calibration details, and completion logs. Communicate effectively with office staff, sales staff, and growers to confirm application plans and timelines. Work closely with the maintenance manager to ensure all equipment is in safe, reliable operating condition. Upload and manage maps and prescription files using platforms such as John Deere Operations Center, Climate FieldView, Raven AgSync, Trimble, AgLeader, and others. Assist in troubleshooting mapping or equipment issues during application season.

Research Assistant



Support plant tissue and soil sampling across multiple farm sites.

Assist with field trials in potatoes, cereals, cover crops, and specialty crops.

Enter, organize, and summarize agronomic data for reports.

Coordinate and support Climate FieldView and other digital agriculture platforms.

Provide in-field and remote support for digital tools and equipment.

Assist with setup, calibration, and monitoring of planters, spreaders, sprayers, drones, and sensors.

Support basic GIS work, including boundary edits, sampling grids, and variable-rate maps.

Qualifications



Required



Practical experience or strong interest in agriculture, agronomy, plant science, environmental science, precision ag, or GIS. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including carrying equipment, walking fields, and collecting samples. Proficient with operating and troubleshooting computers, office software, and mobile devices in the field. Basic familiarity with GIS software. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Strong problem-solving ability and ability to work independently in the field.

Preferred but Not Required



Post-secondary degree in an agricultural related field Experience with agricultural equipment (tractors, spreaders, sprayers, planters). Experience with JD OP Center, Climate FieldView, Trimble, or Telus platforms. Familiarity with trial layouts, data collection, or on-farm research. Drone operation experience is an asset. Mechanical aptitude and comfort with basic equipment troubleshooting.

Comfortable working with growers, operators, and cross-functional teams. Adaptable, curious, and practical when solving field-level problems. Available for extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends during peak seasons.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
