Afterschool Program Manager - School's Out Program
About the Opportunity:
Feels Like Home Newcomers is a growing grassroots nonprofit in Surrey dedicated to supporting newcomer children and their families. We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Afterschool Program Manager to lead our School's Out program, designed for children aged 6-12. This is a chance to bring your creativity, leadership, and ideas to life, engaging children in meaningful experiences while guiding a caring team of staff and volunteers.
About the Program:
School's Out provides a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where newcomer children can receive language and homework support, participate in creative and educational activities, explore their community during field trips, celebrate their cultural heritage, build friendships, and simply enjoy being kids. As Program Manager, you will shape and enhance these experiences while ensuring every child feels supported and included.
What You'll Do:
Supervise and support children in a safe, structured, and engaging environment
Plan and implement creative activities aligned with program objectives
Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of staff and volunteers
Oversee program administration, attendance, and communication with families
Manage program resources, including purchasing, transporting, and storing supplies (vehicle required)
Collaborate with the Program Director to grow and refine the program
Schedule:
On-site programming: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Flexible remote work: Mondays & Wednesdays for planning, prep, and meetings
Full-time hours during the summer: Monday to Friday
Participation in three annual key organizational events

Who We're Looking For:
Experience working with school-age children (6-12)
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365, Adobe, and Canva
Ability to supervise, mentor, and empower staff and volunteers
Creativity, initiative, and a solution-oriented approach to challenges
Self-starter who can work independently and adapt to changing circumstances
Reliable vehicle with space for program supplies required
Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening
Availability Tuesdays & Thursdays on-site; flexible Mondays & Wednesdays for remote work
A second language is an asset, but not required
