In Canada, CNOOC International has oil sands assets in Long Lake, located in northern Alberta just south of Fort McMurray, which is a SAGD operation with production capacity of 72,000 barrels of bitumen a day. We also have interest in several other oil sands projects, including Hangingstone, operated by Greenfire Resources Operating Corporation, and Syncrude\xe2\x80\x99s oil sands mining upgrading facility. In addition to our oil sands business, we have shale gas land in Northeast British Columbia, a power station in Balzac, Alberta, and interest in a wind farm in southern Alberta. Calgary is our regional corporate office for all North American operations.

Your Background

• You are a highly effective communicator and hold a Bachelor of Finance, Risk Management or Accounting;
• It would be considered an asset if you have a CFA Designation or are enrolled in the program;
• You have experience managing insurance related programs and claims and thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment;
• If you have previous experience with oil and gas assets and operations it would be considered an asset;
• You have strong computer applications knowledge and are proficient analyzing financial statements;
• You are a critical thinker with the ability to propose creative solutions for complex challenges while upholding your commitment to integrity.

Your Role with Our Team

This dynamic role will be instrumental in managing the risk & insurance portfolio for CPNA and CNOOC International assets while supporting the North American credit & contract function for Marketing, Joint Venture, Supply Chain and other significant third-party relationships. Additionally, your role will be responsible for:

• Proactively and efficiently managing insurance programs for North America and other international assets and operations.
• Collaborating with business units to gather necessary underwriting information, analyzing and organizing the data.
• Optimizing the insurance portfolio to achieve proper balance between risk retention and premiums.
• Mitigating the risk of loss and maximizing insurance recovery where a claim occurs.
• Supporting business units by ensuring appropriate insurance provisions are included on commercial contracts and adequately address insurance related risk.
• Co-ordinating premium tax payments and business unit allocations.
• Collaborating and coordinating insurance program renewals with business units, brokers and head office as required.
• Sharing insurance program knowledge, market intelligence and lessons learned throughout the organization.
• Performing credit and financial analysis on new and existing counterparties, joint venture partners, critical suppliers and other third parties as required.
• Recommending open or secured credit limits within established risk tolerance to support commercial opportunity.
• Co-ordinating, negotiating and administering marketing related contracts and related credit enhancement.
• Recommending appropriate credit and insurance terms in company-wide agreements.
• Assisting with formulation, submission and approvals of annual or specific hedging plans and strategies.
• Assisting the Manager with developing and maintaining corporate credit and insurance policies and procedures.
• Liaising with external counterparties, partners and other stakeholders as required.
• Assisting with on-boarding and KYC information to enable marketing counterparties.
• Special projects as required.
