In this role, the APNE leads education at the cutting edge of best practice through the use of adult education principles and skills in change management.The APNE role involves enhancing patient care by applying evidence-based practices, providing clinical consultation, and addressing gaps in practice. The APNE designs and delivers tailored staff education, promotes professional development, and mentors nurses for career growth. They collaborate with teams across UHN and the academic community on clinical and educational initiatives, participate in committees, and share best practices. The APNE leads program evaluation, implements innovative education strategies, supports and leads research initiatives.The APNE also conducts research, leads program evaluations, and implements innovative education strategies. As a leader, they drive nursing visibility and change management efforts, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.QualificationsQualificationsxc2xb7 Must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and able to practice without restrictionsxc2xb7 Current membership in RNAO (Registered Nurses Association of Ontario) is preferredxc2xb7 Current membership in a related professional interest group or association is preferredxc2xb7 At a minimum, completion of a graduate degree program in Nursing or Education or recognized equivalent is requiredxc2xb7 Theoretical and practical experience in adult education and other relevant educational frameworks, including educational program planning, development, and evaluation, is requiredxc2xb7 Completion of specialty-specific certification program(s) relevant to respective clinical areas requiredxc2xb7 Completion of a Basic Life Support (BLS) program required upon hirexc2xb7 Previous experience as an Educator considered an assetxc2xb7 At least three years of previous nursing experience in a relevant specialty preferredxc2xb7 Excellent leadership, time management, facilitation skillsxc2xb7 Interprets, communicates and disseminates research findings to support patient care and recommends evidence-based policy and practice changexc2xb7 Ability to be adaptable, build trust, provide coaching and collaboration, facilitate change and promote continuous improvementxc2xb7 Demonstrate ability to motivate staff and create an environment conducive to learning and team buildingxc2xb7 Proficient in Microsoft Officexc2xb7 Able to work effectively as a member of and/or lead an interprofessional teamxc2xb7 Able to effectively use information technologyxc2xb7 Ability to meet multiple and competing deadlinesxc2xb7 Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights CodeAdditional InformationWhy join UHN?In addition to working alongside some of the most talented and inspiring healthcare professionals in the world, UHN offers a wide range of benefits, programs and perks.
