The Advanced Practice Nurse Educator (APNE) is a member of TGH ER\'s interprofessional leadership team, and demonstrates a set of core competencies fundamental to developing and maintaining the academic practice environment at UHN. The competencies focus on education and staff development, interprofessional collaboration, scholarly/research activity, and leadership/change management. The APNE uses best practice in education to assess learning needs, develop, design, deliver and evaluate educational programs. The APNE collaborates with others to promote enhanced development and delivery of quality nursing education internally and externally. The APNE contributes to the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application and integration of knowledge through research and scholarly work. The APNE leads in the creation of a preferred future for nursing education and professional practice..

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current certificate of licensure/registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Theoretical and practical experience in adult education including learning needs assessment, educational program planning, development, and evaluation
  • Previous Nursing experience with Emergency Medicine; must be an expert in Emergency Department (3 to 5 year Experience) preferred
  • Certification in Emergency Medicine preferred
  • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Excellent leadership, time management, presentation skills
  • Ability to be adaptable, build trust, provide coaching and collaboration, facilitate change and promote continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate ability to motivate staff and create an environment conducive to learning and team building
  • Able to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Able to use information technology
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse management and employee groups and individuals
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in new environments, adapt, implement and manage changes and facilitate its acceptance by others
  • Ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines
  • Interprets, communicates and disseminates research findings to support patient care and recommends evidence-based policy and practice changes
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Comfortable with use of technology; knowledge of computer systems and software applications
  • Completion of Master\'s Degree an asset; Master\'s Degree related to Education preferred
