Job Summary
The School of Nursing is recognized for advancing nursing knowledge, practice and policy. Exceptional nurses begin and further their education and careers at Dalhousie University. Reporting to the Director, School of Nursing, the Administrative Manager will support the mission of the School by organizing and managing all administrative functions required to support the infrastructure of the School of Nursing to develop and sustain excellence in education, research, service to the university and professional community.
Key Responsibilities
Lead overall administrative operations for the School of Nursing, including office management, policy development, and process improvement.
Manage complex budgeting and financial operations, including preparation and monitoring of multiple budgets, grants, trust and endowment accounts, and financial reporting.
Oversee human resources processes including the recruitment of staff and student appointments, preparation of job postings for faculty recruitment processes, and appointment and rejection letters.
Supervise and develop administrative and simulation lab technical staff, ensuring effective staffing, performance management, training, and adherence to collective agreements.
Coordinate academic administration, including admissions processes, student records, timetabling, course evaluations, and accreditation preparation, ensuring compliance with academic regulations.
Manage School facilities and information technology, including space planning, maintenance coordination, equipment oversight, and system administration support.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus Tuesday to Friday and remote work Mondays (from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field plus approximately five years progressive, relevant experience in business, including organization management and financial planning (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication (verbal and written) skills with proven diplomacy and ability to work well as part of a team.
Proven attention to detail, initiative, problem-solving skills, and independent judgement.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
Effective and demonstrable leadership skills with prior experience managing staff.
Assets
Master of Business Administration
Experience in an academic health care environment.
Knowledge of business management such as budgeting, financial planning, and data analysis.
