Administrative Coordinator, Indigenous Engagement
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Administrative Coordinator will provide administrative support for the university's office and gathering space on the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation's urban reserve in Saskatoon. The position will serve as office coordinator and be the first point of contact with our faculty, students, staff and community members who utilize the office and gathering space. The individual will create a welcoming environment, respectful of the space, Indigenous communities and individuals.
Additionally, the coordinator will support managing Indigenous community relationships with the goal of engaging them into the Office of the Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement (OVPIE) programs, services and events. The coordinator will also support the OVPIE in the organization of cultural, artistic and scholarly presentations, performances, and events within the Muskeg Lake office, coordinating and supporting various programs, services and events organized by the OVPIE each year. The role will also support various programs, services and events from the OVPIE throughout the year across USask campus locations.
NATURE OF WORK
Reporting to the Director, Indigenous Engagement, this position plays an important role in planning and coordinating the delivery of operational and administrative support for the university's gather space on the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation's urban reserve in Saskatoon.
An important aspect of this work is creating a welcoming and safe community for all students to feel a sense of belonging and supported at the Muskeg Lake office. To be successful in this role, the coordinator requires a high level of collaboration, relationship-building, and engagement with a variety of stakeholders to effectively support USask's Indigenous strategy and the work of the OVPIE. The coordinator will also need to exercise discretionary decision-making and establish effective working relations with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
