The City of Corner Brook is accepting applications for the temporary position of Administrative Assistant, Elections. We're looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team to assist with the municipal election preparation. As the Administrative Assistant, Elections, you will be tasked with various duties related to the municipal election including administrative duties, responding to public inquiries related to the election, responding to written communication, and assisting the public with voter registration.
As the successful candidate, you will gain insight into City Operations, specifically the Municipal Elections process while you build relationships with staff and community stakeholders.
The successful candidate will work a 35-hour work week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility in working hours will be required as some evening and/or weekend work may occasionally occur, with appropriate notice.
This position requires an individual with a high school diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a diploma or degree in Office Administration, Business Administration, or related program. Strong organizational and communication skills are a necessity as is the ability to work with computers, particularly with Microsoft, Outlook, and the internet. The successful candidate will have a great ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience in a municipal environment is not necessary; however, is an asset.
