Additive Applications Engineer
Join our applications engineering team as an Additive Applications Engineer and play a critical role in empowering users to succeed with our flagship 3D printer. You'll work hands-on with cutting-edge hardware technology and simulation software, travel to customer sites, and help businesses integrate additive manufacturing into their workflows to drive real impact.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop material profiles and 3D printing process parameters for various applications and materials
  • Tackle complex customer challenges and provide hands-on troubleshooting support for the customer success team
  • Conduct on-site customer visits for installation, training, and advanced troubleshooting
  • Research and build understanding of the relationship between process parameters and part performance
  • Develop high-quality training materials, including printing guides, process manuals, and technical documentation
  • Innovate slicing solutions for complex geometries, applying Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles to enhance printability and efficiency
  • Conduct material testing and characterization studies to optimize printing parameters
  • Provide pre-sales technical support and design consultation to customers
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations for customer issues
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings as a technical representative
  • Create application notes, case studies, and technical documentation
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Post-secondary degree in science, engineering, additive manufacturing, or related technical field
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in an applications engineering position within the 3D printing industry
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with CAD software and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles
  • Knowledge of PrusaSlicer or other open-source slicing software
  • Experience with industrial FFF applications and/or processing high-performance materials (PEEK, PEKK, PEI, PI is a plus)
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with experience writing technical reports and documentation
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer visits and industry events
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using industrial 3D printers and post-processing of printed parts
  • Knowledge of thermoplastic material science and their industrial applications
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100)
  • Experience with statistical analysis software and design of experiments (DOE)
  • Background in manufacturing processes beyond additive manufacturing
  • Project management experience
