Your Opportunity:This is an opportunity to join our newest team in the Child, Youth, & Family Mental Health & Addiction Portfolio in Red Deer, supporting Central Zone! The primary purpose of the role is to support youth and their families after a crisis with psychoeducation, solution focused conversations, referrals and community connections, and a positive connection until transition of supports can occur. You will be joining an interdisciplinary team working closely with a larger team in the Central Zone supporting the Children's Mental Health & Addiction portfolio to ensure post-crisis support to youth and their families. You will also be providing consultation and outpatient services to the Red Deer Children's Addiction & Mental Health Clinic, PChAD, Step Up Step Down, and Unit 39 at the Red Deer Hospital as required. Strong assessment and time management skills are required in this position. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work independently and as a team are required. This position is located out of the Sheldon Kennedy Center of Excellence. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you agree to and will become an employee of Recovery Alberta.Description:As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities. Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working with high-risk youth and families is required. Strong risk-assessment and safety plan development skills is required. Ability to capacity build/teach youth and their caregivers is required. Preferred Qualifications:5 years' experience working with youth and families in complex situations is preferred.
