Your Opportunity:

Forensic Assessment & Community Services (FACS) has an exciting opportunity for an Addictions Counselor III. Reporting to the Care Manager of FACS, this position will act as a member of multidisciplinary teams that provide treatment services that are evidence and recovery based, aligned with best practice approaches, policy, legislation, and designated standards of practice within the context of an outpatient, forensic community mental health clinic. The Addictions Counselor III is responsible for the provision of specialized treatment addressing alcohol, drug and gambling concerns. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessment, case management, workshop development and facilitation, counselling in both group and individual formats. Position responsibilities also include collaboration with colleagues in order to provide input and participation in program development, research activities, and quality improvement endeavors. In addition to supporting the clinic, this role also supports facilitation of intimate partner violence groups. Knowledge of intimate partner violence will be considered an asset. This position works closely and collaboratively with community stakeholders, offering consultative and educational services as needed, along with coordination and case management planning and follow-up. This will include but is not limited to clients\' with developmental delays, acute mental health issues, and complex social needs.

Description:

As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor\'s degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor\'s degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities. Additional Required Qualifications:
