Your Opportunity:

As an Addiction counsellor III on the Addiction Recovery Community Health team (ARCH), you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and support with providing a range of services to patients affected by homelessness and/or who experience substance use disorders. The ARCH team is multi-disciplinary and comprised of physicians, registered nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and peer support workers. We follow patients through their stay in hospital, on a consulting basis, and aim to connect them with warm handovers to community support. ARCH offers services that include addiction medicine, counseling, peer support, harm reduction education and supplies, managed alcohol, social stabilization, health promotion and treatment referrals. The Addictions Counsellor III will work with ARCH consults in collaboration with the wider team to provide addiction counseling supports and facilitate treatment referrals.

Description:

As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor\'s degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor\'s degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities. Additional Required Qualifications:

1 year working in an acute care environment or community environment supporting people with addictions. 3-5 years of recent work experience supporting people experiencing substance use/addictions. Knowledge of harm reduction, motivational interviewing, SFBT. Knowledge of Alberta Addiction treatment options. Preferred Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in counseling, considered an asset. Recent experience in an acute care environment. Certification in addictions, MI, SFBT, CBT, DBT considered an asset. Current BCLS - HCP. Current Connect Care Training.
