Love Soluble Inc. is a Canadian non-profit and a registered charitable organization founded in 2019. Our mission is to support pre-sentenced individuals who are incarcerated due to actions influenced by substance use disorder (SUD). We aim to help our clientele achieve freedom from addiction so they can successfully reintegrate into society, ultimately reducing recidivism, addiction and homelessness.

Love Soluble operates the Manie Daniels Center, an 8-bed residential treatment facility in Maberly, Ontario. At our center, we assist our clientele in overcoming SUD while teaching essential life skills necessary for maintaining recovery beyond the confines of the criminal justice system.

Overview

As an addiction counsellor, the candidate will play a crucial role in providing passionate and dedicated therapeutic services to pre-sentenced incarcerated individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorder using an abstinence-only approach. We believe every individual deserves the opportunity to heal from addiction and lead a fulfilling life in recovery, and we are committed to helping our clients achieve this goal.

Skills & Duties

Provide individual and group counselling sessions focused on addiction recovery and rehabilitation in a residential setting. Facilitate psycho-educational workshops, life skills training, and relapse prevention strategies. Support clients in navigating the complexities of their pre-sentencing status while maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and progress reports in line with institutional and professional standards. Foster a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for clients, encouraging active participation in their recovery journey.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Social Work, Addiction Studies, and/or relevant experience. A valid G driver's license is required, as reliable transportation is essential to reach our remote location. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support clients in a challenging environment. A strong commitment to ethical practice, professional boundaries, and the principles of confidentiality. Disclosure of criminal convictions. (Criminal record will not exclude candidates)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with pre-sentenced incarcerated individuals or those involved in the criminal justice system. Knowledge of legal and correctional system protocols, including the unique needs of incarcerated men in substance use disorder treatment. Non-violent crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid Certification.
