Actuarial Associate, Group Annuity Pricing, BMO Life Assurance

BMO Life Assurance's Group Retirement Solutions (GRS) business develops and implements de-risking solutions for defined benefit pension plans. To support this growing business, BMO Life Assurance is seeking an Actuarial Associate to join the pricing team that is responsible for pricing pension risk transfer solutions. The successful candidate will support the pricing of our group annuity products and assist with other miscellaneous projects.

Accountabilities of this role include:

A. Pricing Support (75%)

• Responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of group annuity quotations
• Verify pension data, clarify data issues and interpret and model pension plan provisions
• Provide analysis of pension plan mortality experience and/or longevity studies
• Keeps apprised of applicable new and existing pension legislation
• Documenting of pricing procedures and/or other tasks as assigned

B. Special Projects (25%)

• Assist in the design, maintenance, and improvement of pricing models
• Support the development and design of new products as required
• Analyze reinsurance pricing, mortality studies and changes in pricing assumptions
• Assist in preparation of group annuity pricing report and internal presentations for management
• Analyze inforce mortality and/or other experience

Qualifications

Knowledge

• Successful completion of at least 4 SOA exams preferred
• Pension consulting or pension valuation work experience is an asset
• Working knowledge of provincial pension and tax legislation is an asset
• Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, statistics, or other related mathematical discipline

Skills

• Strong analytical, modeling and attention to details
• Willing to work in a fast paced environment and ability to manage multiple assignments
• Good communication and team working skills
• Strong computer skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel and GGY AXIS
