Job Requirements
Communication:
o Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. French is an asset.
o Proficient with technical language and concepts.
o Able to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Analytical Skills:
o Has strong problem-solving skills.
o Is thorough and can produce high quality work.
o Practical experience with Moody\'s AXIS software and Excel
o Experience with databases is an asset.

Professional Guidelines:
o Bachelor\'s degree in actuarial science, or other quantitative area of study.

Model Development
Gain a deep understanding of the AXIS valuation model used by the Corporate Actuarial L&H team and its associated processes. The Analyst will be expected to make changes to the model, calculation spreadsheets and/or databases to meet the evolving needs of the business. This will include ongoing improvements to the model as well as implementing new requirements from both a regulatory and business nature. The Analyst will work with and communicate changes to the Production team.
Database Management
Manage the policy and transactional data required for valuation and actuarial analysis. The Analyst will be expected to understand the data and be able to manipulate it for use in AXIS. New processes will be created to query and transform data for use in a variety of applications.
This role will be reporting to corporate actuarial valuation team, focusing on quarter end valuation, experience studies, LICAT and other ad hoc activities. The Senior Manager will guide the Analyst to better understand the business as well as aid in prioritizing projects.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Model Development:
o Work with Pricing and Corporate Actuarial colleagues to understand modelling requirements;
o Create spreadsheets and AXIS coding to model new business and/or product changes;
o Improve existing models for accuracy and efficiency;
o Understand how changes to the model affect CALM and LICAT results; and,
o Quantify the impacts of modelling changes in terms of reserve and capital.
Database Management:
o Work with technology and data teams to produce accurate data extracts for valuation;
o Manage the flow of data from source extract to AXIS valuation input;
o Create tools to efficiently modify and analyze data;
o Understand the data systems we use and their limitations so that proper controls can be established;
o Ensure proper documentation exists for data processes.
