Job Description

Robert Half is searching for a candidate to fill the position of an Accounting Clerk for an admired, well-known organization. You will perform a range of Accounting Clerical duties including, matching invoices to purchase orders and/or vouchers, data entry and assisting in the process of Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R). This permanent Accounting Clerk position is located in the Markham, Ontario, area.

Key responsibilities

- Reconcile discrepancies by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as required

- Assist Accounts Receivable with processing daily invoices/credit, applying cash receipts, and collecting past due balances

- Use knowledge of expenditure codes and accounting codes to accurately code documents

- Perform general accounting tasks, such as G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, and other ad hoc projects

- Utilize a number of sources to create statements and reports

- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

- Use various methods to add financial information to journals and ledgers

- File vendor invoices and disbursements and match & file A/P invoices to support accounts payable
- Strong familiarity with bank reconciliations

- Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired

- Experience with Excel Formulas

- Bookkeeping experience preferred

- Accounts Receivable (AR) experience

- Proven knowledge of Microsoft Excel

- AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred

- Spreadsheet and ERP system experience preferred

- Experience with high volume data entry

- Ability to multitask effectively
