SUMMARY: We are looking for an Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to join our Corporate Accounts Payable Team. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the AP Specialist will be responsible for efficiently and accurately process invoices and payment runs. As an important element of the role, the AP Specialist will be coordinating with our teams and business units nationally and support department improvement projects and initiatives. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete weekly payment runs by cheque, EFT, wires, bank transfers, online banking payments & bank drafts, including coordination of signing and distribution
  • Coordinate payments from approximately 90 bank accounts on behalf of legal entities, joint ventures and all FCR properties.
  • Manage realty tax payment invoice processing for timely payment.
  • Respond to queries and adhoc requests from all departments and vendors
  • Review Accounts Payable aged listings to assist in managing payables over 30 days.
  • Manage stale dated cheques, voids and stop payments with the bank.
  • Process invoices including PO line-item match and holdbacks in an automated processing environment.
  • Gain full understanding of all invoice types and coding processes.
  • Participate in special projects and take on other duties, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Required level of education and related experience:
  • Minimum three (3) years of Accounts Payable experience, preferably in property accounting with multiple legal entity structures.
  • An understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting skills.
  • Experience with processing invoices using OCR technology and AP Automation.
  • A two-year college diploma or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or Business Studies as an asset.
Specific skills needed to be successful:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and JD Edwards payables processing experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GST, HST, QST.
  • A team-player; willing to step in and lend a hand as needed and you identify the opportunities to do so.
  • Well-developed communication skills to effectively communicate across all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to coordinate multiple, competing priorities and deadlines.
