Who we're looking for:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer/Executive Director, the Accounting Specialist is responsible for working with the Business Office to process timely and accurate transactions relating to both the revenue and expense cycles.
Responsibilities include:
Revenue cycle
Ensure proper posting of revenue transactions, primarily related to tuition, donations and grants
Process payments issued by cheque, credit card, share transfers and EFT
Report NSFs, overpayments and account balances as required
Assess subsidy applications and process adjustments to customer invoices
Respond to inquiries regarding tuition payments/subsidy assessments
Balance tuition payments/receivable between Quickbooks and Veracross
Help with the preparation of charitable donation receipts
Work closely with the Tuition, Advancement and Admissions offices to ensure completeness of revenue recognition
Other duties as required
Expense Cycle
Ensure proper posting of expense transactions, primarily received from vendors
Ensure proper backup and authorization has been received for the payment of invoices
Post accounts payable invoices and prepare payments for approval
Process employee expense reports
Manage credit card transactions/reconciliations
Interact with other departments to resolve accounts payable issues
Respond to inquiries regarding vendor accounts
Ensure invoices and financial records are filled and stored in an organized manner and coded correctly
Other duties as required
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
? High school diploma
? 1-3 years of experience preferred
? Understanding of accounting principles is preferred
? Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering financial data
? Outstanding math skills
? Ability to maintain confidentiality
? Deadline-driven with excellent time management ability
? Detail oriented and problem solving skills
? Collaborative team member able to adapt to various deadlines
? Excellent computer skills including Google Suite and MS Office
? Working knowledge of Quickbooks and/or Veracross is strongly preferred
? Understand and demonstrate the School ethos to staff, students, parents and vendors
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: $45,627.12-$65,000.00 per year
