Job Description

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) is seeking a detailed-oriented Accounting Officer I to support financial administration and accounts payable functions. This role is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementation in financial processes, ensuring accurate and efficient financial transactions within FSIN. The successful candidate will handle invoice processing, account reconciliation, financial record-keeping, and compliance with financial policies and procedures, contributing to the overall efficiency and integrity of the organization's financial operations.

Your Role

Process and code invoices for business vendors, major accounts, travel claims, and meeting lists. Enter financial data into ACCPAC accounting software and maintain accurate records. Prepare cheques for signing, distribution, and mail-out. Reconcile accounts payable monthly and ensure accuracy in financial records. Maintain purchase order logs, match invoices, and track expenses. Prepare journal entries related to accounts payable transactions. Assist with financial audits by preparing confirmations and necessary documentation. Support year-end financial processes, including pre-paid expense tracking and report preparation. Perform bank reconciliations, process revenue entries, and prepare financial summaries. Provide backup for accounts receivable, including issuing invoices, managing funding agreements, and preparing deposits. Ensure financial compliance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all financial reporting. Assist with special projects and provide financial data as requested. Perform other finance-related duties as required to support FSIN's operations.
Who you'll work with

Collaborate with finance team members to support accounts payable and receivable functions. Work closely with vendors and departments to process financial transactions. Coordinate with program managers and administrative staff to ensure accurate financial reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Two (2) year certificate in business administration or a related field.
Experience

One (1) year of related work experience in accounting or financial administration. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom, and internet applications. Experience with ACCPAC accounting software is an asset. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
