Accounting Manager Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association, T6X 0P7 This is a full-time, permanent position based on a 37.5 hour work week. The position will work regular office hours, with an occasional need to work outside business hours, from the AHLA’s office in Edmonton. Who are you? We bring together Alberta hotels to help our members prosper. Our advocacy work protects and promotes the interests of our members with regard to legislation, policy, and regulations that affect Alberta’s tourism and hospitality industry. Our cost savings programs provide added value to members and improve the quality of hotel operations. Our health & safety programming provides current and relevant training and resources for the industry as a whole. We’ve been around for over a century, and a large part of our success comes down to our service-oriented, collaborative, and innovative team. We’re looking for a talented and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our full-cycle accounting processes. That’s where you come in. Accounting Manager You’ll lead our accounting team to oversee full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for our organization and the other entities we support. You will own your role, supporting our Director of Finance, and anticipating the functions and reporting required for us to successfully deliver on our core purpose. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Effectively leads and manages the Accounting team;
  • Meets operational and regulatory filing deadlines, ensuring accuracy;
  • Works collaboratively with all other functional areas to maximize operational effectiveness and stewardship;
  • Overall responsibility for accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial reporting for the AHLA and related entities;
  • Supervises the organization’s payroll functions;
  • Effectively manages supporting documentation for financial data, including period-end working papers and reconciliations;
  • Provides timely and relevant analysis on any variances, issues or risks to support strong financial management;
  • Facilitates grant reporting in accordance with the terms of the grant & funding agreements;
  • Sets up and coordinates the annual budget process;
  • Manages the annual audit process;
  • Recommends and implements processes to enhance the Accounting team’s workflow and data integrity across the organization;

The EOS tools help our team work with greater clarity and consistently achieve better results. Qualifications
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting processes and strong knowledge of accounting principles, and Canadian payroll
  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Experience coordinating with multiple entities and managing multiple projects
  • Intermediate to advanced level of skill with Microsoft Excel, with experience using Excel for the purpose of accounting (including use of formulas, functions, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Navision and Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or a similar financial system and CRM
  • Experience with Jet Reports and/or similar reporting and BI software solutions
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit association (an asset)
  • Professional accounting designation (in progress or completed) (an asset)
