What you will do:
Reporting to Manager, Billing Revenue, in the Revenue and Accounting Division, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinate the annual tangible capital asset process required for the completion of the audited financial statements with the assistance of staff
Coordinate the completion of the annual financial information return with the assistance of staff
Assist other Revenue staff in managing the assessment base
Prepare account reconciliations
Assist in evaluating revenue software solutions for improvements and upgrades
Functional participant for Revenue software enhancements and implementations
Develop and maintain revenue related policies and procedures including taxation collection and assist in the development of other finance policies, procedures, business plans and budgets
Research and analyze data to create reports related to taxation, billing and collection issues and the impacts of changes in assessment legislation
Respond to customer and community enquiries
Other duties as required
What you will bring:
Two (2) year post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years' related experience preferably in a municipal taxation environment or public utility; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Completion of Municipal Tax Administration Program or related program is considered an asset
Knowledge of assessment matters and legislation based on experience in a municipal environment or in a related public sector work environment would be considered an asset
Previous experience with accounting and billing software; experience with PeopleSoft and Vailtech will be considered an asset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced spreadsheet skills
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with other members of the team, customers and other stakeholders
Excellent presentation skills
Proven project management and organizational skills to manage competing and changing priorities
Strong customer service approach
Self-motivated, goal-orientated individual capable of working in a dynamic and challenging work environment
