The Accounting Clerk supports the finance team in maintaining accurate records, processing transactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of financial systems.
Position Overview
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing administrative support to the finance team. This role involves handling accounts payable and receivable, assisting with reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounting Clerk contributes to the overall efficiency of the resort's accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable and Receivable
Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely payment.
Prepare and send invoices for accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
Record and reconcile financial transactions related to payables and receivables.
Data Entry and Recordkeeping
Enter financial data into accounting systems with a high degree of accuracy.
Maintain organized digital and physical financial records for audits and reporting.
Assist in updating and maintaining the general ledger and other financial systems.
Bank and Account Reconciliations
Assist with reconciling bank statements and credit card transactions.
Support the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, such as inventory and prepaid expenses.
Financial Reporting Support
Help prepare monthly financial reports by compiling data and running preliminary reports.
Assist with budget tracking and variance analysis as directed by the Financial Controller.
Administrative Support
Respond to vendor and customer inquiries related to payments, invoices, or financial records.
Ensure the timely and accurate filing of financial documents, including tax forms and compliance records.
Provide general administrative support to the finance team as needed.
Compliance and Internal Controls
Follow all internal financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred.
1-2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role preferred; entry-level candidates with relevant coursework will be considered.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Skills and Competencies
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate financial records.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial transactions.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic work environment.
Strong communication skills to interact with vendors, customers, and internal staff.
