At HWS, we use a gender-based analysis (GBA+), trauma and violence informed framework to deliver prevention, education, crisis support and healing programs to women and their families who have been impacted by GBV in rural Huron County. Our services include a 24-hour helpline and emergency shelter, risk assessment and safety planning, advocacy, system navigation, individual and group healing opportunities, and community development.
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate Services, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing a wide variety of general accounting functions. The Accounting Clerk will complete activities related to agency finances, including but not limited to AP/AR, payroll, data entry, and government reporting.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor and manage emails to finance department
• Review and post invoices and receipts into accounting system and provide back up documentation
• Create bank deposits
• Set up and maintenance of various accounts
• Provide back up documentation for payable, receivable, and other transactions
• Account reconciliations
• Prepare financial statements
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
You have a strong accounting background with experience in full cycle accounting including payroll and government remittances, experience with government funding and reporting is an asset. The ideal candidate will post-secondary education in accounting and will bring with them at least 3 years accounting experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Post-Secondary education (Degree or Diploma) in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
• Proven administrative and organizational skills, with high attention to detail and computer proficiency
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• CPR and First Aid Level C Certificate (ASIST, CPI an asset).
LOCATION AND HOURS OF WORK
This is a part-time position beginning at 14 hours a week with the potential to grow to full time, working from our office located at 376 Huron Rd. Goderich, ON., occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
The pay range for this role is currently under review.
