Accounting Clerk - CONTRACT _ MATERNITY LEAVE REPORTS TO: MANAGER, FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION St. Clair Student Representative Council Incorporated is seeking an energetic team member to join our leadership team as Accounting Clerk. You must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experience. The Accounting Clerk is looked upon for guidance from their colleagues and the SRC community. As the Accounting Clerk they would be responsible for the administration and coordination of a range of accounting and finance functions. The Accounting Clerk is a support for both staff and administration of the SRC and is subject to the SRC bylaws and policies. The Accounting Clerk shall have a close working relationship with the other members of the SRC Inc. along with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and employees of the SRC to meet the goals and objectives set forth each year. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES o entering in Sage, daily sales and purchase invoices for all companies under the SRC umbrella?entering monthly credit card reports as well as filing of all daily paperwork; o Monthly bank reconciliations; o in conjunction with and/or under the supervision of the Manager, Finance and Administration; assist with / handle accounts receivable and payable, including review of all incoming invoices and the processing of all outgoing cheques; o abiding by departmental security measures o by direction of the Manager, Finance and Administration ? preparation of financial reports and statements detailing the financial status of the corporation as a whole and/or a specific department. The scheduling of those may include daily or weekly reports to track the trends of specific commercial enterprises ? including the identification of downward trends and/or discrepancies that may be caused by transactional errors by front-line staff, inventory losses, improper cash-handling and fraud; o assist the Manager of Finance and Administration with the assembly of material for, and liaison with, the corporate auditor; o in conjunction with and/or under the supervision of the Manager of Finance and Administration ? familiarity with aspects of municipal, provincial and federal taxation and fees affecting the corporation, including: regulatory compliance, the preparation and execution of forms, and the maintenance of records; o in conjunction with and/or under the supervision of the Manager of Finance and Administration ? maintaining departmental inventory, and ensuring the functional status of pertinent business machines (including computer hardware and software); o generally, in the absence of the Manager of Finance and Administration, be independently proficient in carrying out all of the fundamental, day-to-day financial tasks required of you. DESIRABLE PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATONS o a Business-Accounting diploma/degree and some experience in the commercial enterprises (due to that aspect of the SRC?s operations); o specific experience with food service financial operations is very desirable [especially knowledge of/experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and their built-in inventory management components]; o bondable; o proficiency in Sage/Simply Accounting software, and Microsoft Office (including Excel); o constantly update job knowledge in terms of processes, software and hardware, and regulations. DESIRABLE PERSONAL QUALITIES/TRAITS o well organized, punctual, detail-oriented; o excellent written and oral communication skills; o excellent mathematical skills; o the ability to multi-task; o capable of individual initiative and team-work. This position is Maternity Replacement 1 year contract Part-Time working 24 hours per week, with some weeks up to 40 hours a week, on a 15 month contact with potential for renewal.
