We are looking for an

Accounting Clerk

to join our team on an

18-month contract basis

in our

Vaughan Office.

This role can have a fully remote work schedule.





The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for the processing of client credit card payments as well as assist with the maintenance of the finance accounting system. The Accounting Clerk will be required to liaise with legal assistants & other accounting team members and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.


Key responsibilities:




Process Visa, MasterCard and AMEX client credit card payments at the national level. Post credit card payments, verify payment details, ensure proper authorization is attached. You will also process payment adjustments and refunds. Answer credit card related inquiries and provide backups. Follow up and resolve discrepancies. Maintain a spread sheet of credit card payment records for tracking, bank reconciliation and audit purposes. Set up and maintenance of the Aderant financial system, including but not limited to updating standard hourly lawyer rates, general ledger accounts, cost codes and tax codes. Work closely with the Accounting Systems Supervisor on various finance system (Aderant) related projects including the updating of lawyer & client data. Respond to emails from lawyers & assistants and ensure they are resolved and responded to in a timely manner.

What you'll bring:




Completion of an accounting program from college or equivalent work experience in an accounting department. Experience working with accounting systems including Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable. Knowledge of Aderant an asset. Intermediate Excel skills. Dedication to providing timely and quality work for clients. Strong communication skills. Prioritization skills in a very busy and multi-faceted environment. Must be able to work both as a team player and independently.
